I bought it so i new exactly how much gas was in the cylinder. After BBQ'ing i always empty the line by closing off the main valve and then re- lighting the burners. When you turn the valve back on you push the button in and it shows you how much is in the bottle. I don't know if i'm doing something wrong as it has never been out of the green and on one occasion i ran out of gas.Ultimately its the saftey shut valve that is important .Easy to install and use though.
