As Australia's largest outdoor leisure retailer, Barbeques Galore is often considered when various organisations are seeking sponsorships or donations. We take our commitment to the communities that we operate in seriously and therefore allocate resources to support a number of national initiatives.
Some of these initiatives include:
The Lions Biggest BBQ
Barbeques Galore is proud to support the Lions Clubs of Australia in their annual fundraising initiative - Lions Biggest BBQ Weekend - to raise funds for the Children's Cancer Institute Australia (CCIA) for medical research into the causes and cures of childhood cancer. Many of the 1,400 Lions Clubs across the country will participate in the Lions Biggest BBQ this year. To date, Lions Australia has raised over $2.2 million for CCIA through various fundraising activities such as the Lions Biggest BBQ Weekend.
The Children's Cancer Institute Australia is the only independent medical research institute in Australia solely devoted to research into the causes, prevention and cure of childhood cancer. In Australia more children die from cancer than any other disease. Over 500 new cases are diagnosed each year. One in 500 children will get cancer before their fifteenth birthday. Prior to the 1960s childhood cancer was practically a death sentence, with an overall cure rate of less than 5%. Today, as a result of enormous advances in medical research, the survival rate has risen to over 70%. However, three out of every ten children diagnosed with cancer do not survive. These are the children that the Institute is dedicated to saving.

Cystic Fibrosis
Let's face it - our nation loves a barbeque, and Cystic Fibrosis Victoria got together with Barbeques Galore for 'Bangers & Cash', a barbeque to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is the most common genetically inherited life-threatening disease affecting Australians today. The condition primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. From birth, a person with Cystic Fibrosis undergoes constant medical treatments and physiotherapy. With major advancements in the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis, now more than 50% can hope to reach the age of 30 years. There is still no cure.
